Healthcare facilities in Thohoyandou are operating at a very high level as evidenced by the success of four local facilities and professionals at the annual NIMPA Awards. The prestigious awards ceremony was held in Fourways, Johannesburg, on Saturday, 30 November.
NIMPA Ltd encompasses some of South Africa’s leading health-care entities, including NHC Health Centres, Cornerstone Pharmacy, D&H Optometry, and Mveledzo Day Hospital.
“The annual awards honour health-care facilities and professionals who exemplify innovation, quality care, and dedication to their communities. Winning a NIMPA Award signifies not only operational success but also a commitment to patient satisfaction, teamwork, and continual progress,” said Ms Jade Ferreira, marketing coordinator of NIMPA Ltd.
Thohoyandou’s Mveledzo Day Hospital received the award for Best NIMPA Ltd Day Hospital, recognising its state-of-the-art infrastructure, advanced medical equipment, and dedication to quality patient care. The hospital’s modern theatres, cutting-edge medical technologies, and patient-focused approach have made it a cornerstone of healthcare in Thohoyandou.
Adding a personal touch to the evening, Brianna Tshivhase, the daughter of one of the hospital’s practitioners, Dr Tshivhase, accepted the award on behalf of Mveledzo Day Hospital.
Cornerstone Pharmacy Thohoyandou was honoured with the Best NIMPA Ltd Pharmacy award, recognising its exceptional pharmaceutical care. The pharmacy’s efficient operations, commitment to the community, and patient-first approach enabled it to outshine six other major branches across Gauteng, including those in Johannesburg.
In addition to the Best NIMPA Ltd Pharmacy award, Cornerstone Pharmacy’s Faizan Patel won a Supernova Award for his outstanding contributions and exceptional service to the community.
Khensani Khosa of NHC Health Centre Thohoyandou was named Best Team Leader. Khosa was selected from a pool of five nominees across NHC’s five centres.
D&H Optometry’s Andani Mavhungu received the Voted Most Outstanding Optometrist award, following a peer-based voting process across D&H Optometry’s five branches.
“These awards showcase the remarkable progress being made in Thohoyandou’s health-care sector. They highlight the region’s commitment to providing world-class health-care services and inspire continued excellence,” Ferreira added.
